New at Nugax

Upon this page, I'll record recent changes and updates to Nugax. I'm doing this in the vain hope that not only will I regularly make changes and additions to Nugax, but that others will care enough to check back. I can dream can’t I?

April 11, 2008

I added a pdf of the Houses 4.0 Character Sheet.

April 5, 2008

At Caius' insistence, I have resurrencted my Houses game and and currently running a campaign for his friends. Role-playing with one's kids takes the geek out of it and imbeds it into the next generation. I have uploaded an upgraded (updated?) version of the rule book, version 4.0 I'm calling it - though time more than anything has giving it a bigger number. The changes are small.

January 22, 2008

Since the move back to Utah, my life has become something very different than it was back in Oregon. My time hasn't been my own the way it was, but I've still kept up on some of my hobbies. Unfortunately, Nugax hasn't been one of them.

I've received dozens, yes dozens, of emails asking me to update. My God I have a fan. I do have a bit of back log to put up so now that I'm unemployed again... here goes.

The first thing I bring you is probably my masterpiece to date. The Centurion Crusader Land Raider. It's a beast of model (way overpriced) and a beast of vehicle in the now less played Warhammer 40,000 world. What makes this model so cool is how I made it. I pulled out my soldering iron and lit the bastard. It's a lucky piece and has never lost a battle or failed to be complimented upon. Check it out.

I'll try to bring some of the other pieces I've done recently to site in coming weeks. I've discovered a whole new game that no one plays, but fits my interests like nothing else.

August 5, 2006

I moved back to Utah. I gave up the mansion I lived in, the business that worked and the politics I loved to come back to Zion. On the surface it looks like madness, I know, but believe me, it was the thing to do. Pleasant Hill had been a beautiful exile and eventually the isolation was unbearable. Many other factors and events played a role until, like a celestial alignment, the signs all led us home. I'm back now and slowly unpacking 9 years of rain soaked memories into the dry air of Sandy suburbia trying to remember who I was and who I am. - Man, that's just too deep for a frivolous site like this.

I bring to Nugax today one of my favorite builds, long overdue to be posted:

I'm hoping to re-ignite my love of modeling and gaming, if only for the therapy it offers.

February 27, 2006

Big Things happening around here. More on that later. For now, I'm indulging in a little therapy and posting a model I finished but haven't posted. I have lots to post, check back. Today, I bring you (unknown reader) a figure model that was an exercise in filling/sanding and painting. Also I have an updated, Revised Lighting Primer posted. Every modeler should have this on their computer. Many thanks to Kirk Schermerhorn for sending me the new files.

October 3, 2005

I just found out that Kate Bush is releaseing a new album after 12 years! This is SO cool, and to make the news even better - it's being released on my birthday! Wow.

September 18, 2005

The summer's over and I'm still behind on my site! Sorry my many fans (whoever you are!)

Today I showcase a new game: WARMACHINE! I've never actually played it, but I bought a bunch and painted some. They're some of my best work as far as figures go. Check out my work:

May 16, 2005

I finished all the backstage fixes of nugax. All the pop-ups should spawn better and the roll-over buttons should actually change. If you see any problems, please let me know, kind reader.

Okay, now to the meat - all Warhammer 40,000 this time.

I updated the Centurion Scouts with better pictures and the addition of the Snipers.

I updated the Centurions Fast Attack page, bringing in pictures of my re-done Assault Troops.

I added a new model: The Centurion Speeder, another example of a multiple weapon conversion.

Finally, I put up my second squad of Spinegaunts on the Tyranid Troops page.

March 11, 2005

I should write a few hundred pages of what I've been doing, reading and thinking since my last update. There's been some modeling along the way and I'll be bringing that to Nugax within the next few weeks.

This week I've been working behind the scenes and improving the site. With the help of Nate Baldwin of Mindpallete working with Adobe GoLive, I've finally found out how to make my pop-up windows work the way I'd like to. There's no better way to learn a thing than to do a thing. My knowledge of my Web Design program is much better now. Thanks Nate!

I've managed to finish the Miscellaneous Models section with proper pop-ups when you click on a thumbnail. If you see any problems, please email me right away.

September 26, 2004

No I haven't died. (I get that a lot.) I've just been preoccupied with other things to consistently get my work posted. I'm behind in posting, alot, but got something up today. I don't know why today's different from any other day, except I got my Centurion Space Marine Attack Bikes posted. I have more to post; I have been modeling doing other interesting things. I just haven't been posting. Enjoy the bikes for now.

April 26, 2004

I haven't been modeling much, but I still have some stuff to put up. Today I bring you another Centurion Vehicle, a 3rd Edition Predator, Annihilator. This little baby comes in three configurations for all your mayhem needs.

April 6, 2004

What can I say? I've been overly neglectful of nugax. I have a quite a backlog of models waiting to be posted. Today, I give you Winged Chaos Space Marines which I built and painted for my friend and weekend enemy Ted. I did these some time ago - I was surprised to realize they weren't posted yet!

February 6, 2004

Today I bring you a Francis, a converted Warhammer 40,000 Venom Cannon toting Carnifex! Enjoy

January 18, 2004

My Goodness what a pain it was to fix Nugax. I had to fix every single page, re-lay-out everything. GoLive CS is buggy besides and crashed too many times to count. Still the deed is done and all the pages are redone. Hopefully the site now looks much better on every platform. As soon as I can bring myself to work with GoLive again, I'll post some more models.

January 2, 2004

I upgraded my site design program, GoLive, to the newest version. I've been rebuilding every page. I guess I was pretty out of date. If all goes well, I should be finished by the weekend.

December 21, 2003 (Winter Solstice)

The season has taken its tole on my modeling. Nevertheless, today I bring you a nice change from the Warhammer modeling and show off two new Starships I did.

October 27, 2003

A touch of Scarlet Fever (really) finds me at home looking for things to do. Thus I've posted my two newest Hive Tyrants to the Electric Kool-Aid Acid Swarm.

October 18, 2003

Today the Centurians and the Tyranids get some additions

October 14, 2003

So where are all the models I've been making? They're sitting around my house waiting to be photographed. Today I finay got to a couple of them. I give you an even smatterring of Warhammer 40,000 additions.

September 5, 2003

Games Workshop has some new rules about vehicles Warhammer 40,000. I have been sending copies of the files to my friends who've lost them. So now I've added the link location to my links page. Also it's right here:

TRIAL VEHICLE RULES: http://www.games-workshop.com/news/oz/journal/assets/TrialVehicleRules.pdf

August 25, 2003

I've had another burst of cyber-energy today. I added my Necron Flayed Ones. They're some of my best painted miniautres to date. They're very cool.

August 24, 2003

I've been very busy busting out stuff for Warhammer 40K lately, but until today, I haven't posted it. Today I cleaned up the Centurion pages - they've been neglected for a while and I've allowed a few errors to remain too long. My motiviation is that I've been playing my Marines alot lately for the Eye of Terror campain that Greed Workshop is running this summer. They've done well. Most of my site changes were just been rearranging the units, but I did add three new units:

  • Pug - my new weapon exchangeable Dreadnought
  • Whirlwind, which can double as a rhino
  • Razorback, which can not only double as a rhino, but also change out weapons (a good bit of modeling here)

The Cenurions pages still need some work and I've got lots more to post, but this should catch me up with my fans - whoever and wherever you are!

July 16, 2003

I've been so deep into getting my armies ready for Jeff's visit that I've neglected to post what I've done. Today, I finally get my most recent Starship up. It's the Kestral Atmospheric Shuttle from Babylon 5. A great little kit.

June 23, 2003

I have renamed the Swarm. Though still classified by Imperial scribes as "Swarm 532,"many of its foes refer to it as "The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Swarm." Find out more at the Tyranid Home page.

While there check out the stunning arrirval of the Draconids, winged warriors to compliment the Tyranid Fast Attack forces. Check out also the Draconid Yearbook to get up close and personal with the Swarm's newest evolution.

June 20, 2003

Can you believe it? Another update so soon? Well it's true. I posted my new Warhammer 40,000 3rd Edition Hormagaunts and their new sisters the Spinegaunts.

June 17, 2003

I'm back! I've been modeling alot, but posting little. Today. I post a long awaited page, The Tyranid Mycenic Spores. These scratch built units see the first use of my new Nikon Coolpix 4500 camera.

May 24, 2003

It took a long time, but I finally built the Monolith Construction page for Nugax. I know it was already published at Starship Modeler, but I had to have here too, don't you think? This also allowed me to add it to my Necron Heavy Support page and include lots of pictures of this great model.

April 29, 2003

It's been too long since I updated old Nugax. I got a new digital camera which aught to make updates easier. Problem is I have to learn how to do it. Nevertheless, I am working.

I've updated Projects page with a quick mention of what I've been doing.

March 30, 2003

Wow, Nugax is going on its third year - and I'm still adding stuff! Today, I give you three new additions to the Starships chapter.

Continuing in my fascination of building kits of ships I don't like, here are two new Star Wars vessels I managed to muddle through:

Also, here's a unique, but utterly horrible kit - the B.C.I. Martians War Machine. This cool looking kit made from the worse resin on the globe was a nightmare to build.

February 24, 2003

I finally got my Grim Reaper model posted. It's a great model and after five seperate attempts to get some good photos of it, I finally got some I coulds post. Check it out.

I also put up my Shadow Fighter. It's a great little ship I've had for a while but also had problems photographing it.. I don't know how to display it in the house, but at least you can check it out online.

I also added a quick picture on the Projects page. I've been working on Warhammer 40,000 stuff lately.

February 10, 2003

I'm still trying to get some photos up of a couple of models and trying to finish my freakin' Tie Fighters! In the meantime, I've updated a few Links and finally posted Houses, the rules to a modern setting role playing game.

February 2, 2003

I added a new Tyranid Monster, the Haruspex to my ever increasing web site. I think it's one of my best and I used a new technique. Check it out.

February 1, 2003

Space exploration is a dangerouns undertaking. I mourn the loss of the Space Shuttle Columbia.

January 28, 2003

I'm still catching up with all my finished but unposted models.

Today I posted my Alien Egg model. I was messing around with some RTV Silicon Rubber and resin and managed to pull a decent model and a Christmas present out of it.

January 27, 2003

I finally got a productive photography scheme. I utilized a double lighting studio set up with bright studio lights. Using Tungston film and patience, I managed to get some rather nice photos. I used some of my Warhammer terrain to liven them up as well. I have a backlog of models to post. I begin with a few Necrons:

January 11, 2003

I know I haven't updated ol' Nugax in a while, but it hasn't been for want of trying or modeling. I have been very busy making models (see Projects page). What's held me up is the Oregon weather. I usually photograph my models with indirect sunlight, but this is Oregon and we don't have any sunlight right now and won't have any for months, so I've bee struggling with a studio lighting system to take the gobs of pictures I need to show off my stuff.

However, I do have one significant update. My Necron Monolith build-up was published by Starship Modeler. Check it out here:

I also added a link on the Miscellaneous Model page of a great little Primer on lighting as well as a couple of pictures of Marcus helping me to model. He's so cute!

September 23, 2002

I've been a busy builder! Today I've uploaded my latest Warhammer 40,000 models.

  • The Necrons have finally arrived! Check out all the units.
  • Centurion Space Marine Land Raider. A new addition to the venerable chapter.

September 2, 2002 (Labor Day)

It's a slow holiday here at Gaffa, so I went ahead and finished up making the last of my photographed pieces. Check out my newest Warhammer 40,000 pieces:

August 30, 2002

My new server gives me a nice easy to understand graph showing hits and visits to Nugax. I was stunned. I've had thousands of hits and many visits, which means someone, lots of someones actually, are out there reading my humble website. With real traffic, I figured I'd add a little real content. I finally wrote up three pages on modeling techniques that I've been thinking about doing. They're short, but hopefully helpful to other modelers.

August 24, 2002

A bunch has happend to ol' Nugax since it was last updated. I lost my host. That sucks. Just one day they went away. No more dialup and a clock ticking on the host. I found a better, cheaper, bigger host for the site and moved it. So far so good.

Okay, enough of the stupid technical stuff, what have I added to Nugax?

July 2, 2002

I told you I'd post more this week and I did, HA! Check out the updates to Swarm 532 Fast Attack Broods; the Red Terror has arrived with a couple of Raveners to keep him company!

July 1, 2002

It's not that I haven't been modeling or living or taking pictures, it's just that I haven't been putting it all together for Nugax. As such I have quite a few models and pictures to add to this, my beloved site. Today, I added two starships, two of my best ever, and a terrible Warhammer 40K Tyranid Monster. Enjoy these and look for more updates this week. Really.

I also updated my Projects page.

May 20, 2002

Yes it has been a while since I've updated Nugax. It's been a tough couple of months. Sorry.

Without further ado, check out Caius' models. I've updated the Projects page with news of things to come.

March 3, 2002

I've been modeling alot, writing a little and updating my web page less. Today, I finally just took some pictures and got them developed to update the site. Check out these new pages:

I've also added a blurb on my Projects page. Look for some updates to Kids' Nugax very soon.

January 7, 2002

It's been a while since I updated Nugax, but I have been modeling. I added two new ships, representing one of my favorite Star Trek ship designs, and the other one of my least favorites. Check out the Enterprise C and the Reliant pages.

October 29, 2001

Believe it or not, I actually build non-Star Trek ships. (Actually, I really don't like Star Trek ships - they're just ubiquitous.) Anyway, I added two new ship pages today. The Tardis from Dr. Who and the Planet Express from Futurama. I also added Caius' towers picture to the Kids Nugax page and did a little cleaning up including a new bejeweled look to the Starships page.

October 15, 2001

I fixed a few typos on The Voyager page. No one mentioned how many there were, I guess because no one's reading my pages. ....sniff...

October 11, 2001

Things are happening all the time now. I created a Writing link to another modelling article I just gob published. (Galactic Intruder Preview @ Starship Modeler)

October 8, 2001

Now Caius is getting into the act. He's made a couple of pictures with Kid Pix and posted them to Caius' new picture page.

October 3, 2001

Huge update. I finally did some work on my Warhammer 40,000 Centurions unit pages. Though not totally done, most of it is there. I may still have a couple of units which slipped through the cracks and I'd like to try to take some better pictures of some of them.

Included with the Centrion unit pages is a vehicle section which has my newly finished Rhino and Predator models.

September 30, 2001

I put up the Area 51 Saucer write up and updated my project page.

July 8, 2001

I finished the USS Voyager Starship write up and posted it on Starships.

What I'm most proud of is the display of what is possibly my best model yet. Yes, my first Tyranid Monster, the Malefactor is up. Check it out!

Next week I should have a couple other models up and other couple finished.

July 1, 2001

After having been harassed by the only 2 readers I have for the site, I finally got a few moments to update ol' nugax in between the long hours at work.

I put up a page for the Daily Bagel under the Other Passions page.

In the Miscellaneous Model section, I updated my current projects page and added an adorable picture of Marcus. I also put up a page for my completed Area 51 Grey Alien. Check it out.

For some new photographs, check out my new stills of Nobbles, our new colt. I also finally have a picture of Lisa and Diane on the family page, albeit with Nobbles. I'll get more as soon as I fish through all the new pics.

April 2, 2001

I got an article published on Starship Modeler for the Hoto Models' Starship Carrier preview. I made a link to it and a previously published review on my Writing page. Enjoy!

March 26, 2001

Added to my Miscellaneous Modeling page with a Construction Method essay about using sealers. Finally, what might be useful modeling information.

I hope to get a couple of my new models posted this week. Again, the start my new business is looming, so I have to work fast.

March 22, 2001

Made a few cosmetic changes, corrected a couple of typos, changed some buttons around - needed another button on the WH40K army lists for vehicles and monsters. Look for links for those buttons soon. I also added some text for the Zoanthropes. Look for changes to the Skull Hunters soon too, this weekend looks good for some major work..

March 19, 2001

Made some changes to the Warhammer 40,000. Added Jeff Jonsson's Space Marine Chapter, The Skull Hunters, complete with Gallery.

Added several Links including the infamous Jim's Haircut Home Page.

While I was at it, I made an update to my Current Projects. Aren't you all just waiting with antici..... pation for my next project?

March 16, 2001

Nugax was surprisingly well received. Thanks to everyone who wrote. I had the entire site re-read again and made grammatical and spelling corrections where we found them. Let me know if you see any more.

March 15, 2001 - The Ides of March!

This being the premier of Nugax, everything is new! There are still some pages under construction, but that's to be expected since this site is a permanent work in progress.
