Push me!

TIE Interceptor

I built his kit simultaneously with my Tie Defender. I figured since I’d have the paint mixed up, I’d do them all together.

I had had so much fun making my 2 TIE Fighters I figured these would be a good weekend project, a way to break up the heavy WH40K modeling I had been doing. What I got a was a tedious chore.

Maybe it’s because I don’t particularly like Star Wars and the ships therefrom. Maybe it’s because I had already built a couple ships like this. Maybe it was because I was anxious to build other models (WH40K in particular), but I had to force myself to build this model.

I washed the parts and dipped the clear parts in Future to protect them.

The pieces went together pretty well. It was an easier build than the sister Defender.

I painted the interior of the ball including the pilot. Talk about a horrible face, the figure was hideous. I tried to fix it with shading, highlights and eyes, but at the end, I wished he was wearing a helmet.

Using a mixed color Liquitex Acrylic paints of Aquamarine Blue and Neutral Grey I airbrushed the main color. I made a lighter shade of the color by adding some white and drybrushed the details. I picked out the details with greys, painted the panels flat black. After that I called it done.

I got some glue on the front canopy. I don’t know how it happened. It doesn’t even hid the ugly pilot inside - it just mars the canopy. It was an appropriate ending to the kit.

There really wasn’t much more to do it, but what I did could have been better. But hey, I got it done.
